Three Penny Taproom has been a Montpelier staple since opening their doors in 2009. Kevin Kerner, Co-Owner of Three Penny describes the past few months as “quite literally like opening a new restaurant every two weeks” – going from curbside completely to offering in-person dining, now back to curbside, plus the addition of delivery due to the rise in cases in VT. Closing their doors to in-person dining has allowed for a shift in focus, especially when it comes to joining the Vermont Everyone Eats program.
Since joining Everyone Eats, Three Penny Taproom has provided around 100 free meals per week to the Worcester Food Shelf distribution site for a total of 1,000 free meals to Vermonters who have been impacted by the pandemic.
Kevin explains that his favorite part of the program is that 10% of the ingredients used in the meals have to be sourced from Vermont—something that he says is not hard to do thanks to so many incredible local farms and producers. Being a part of this program has helped Three Penny continue to provide their staff with work and income, and has been a wonderful way to give back to their community. Three Penny describes this program as an incredible benefit for everyone and looks forward to the day when they can reopen their in-person dining with the dining experience they are known for.
Support Three Penny and other local restaurants by ordering curbside pick-up, delivery, or a gift certificate/card! Thank you to Three Penny Taproom, and the other 100+ members of the VT Everyone Eats program for continuing to help our community. To learn more about Everyone Eats click here.
